What happened?
As he often does, Martin got on his bike in his free time in the morning to cycle the short distance from his home to his destination. He was wearing his safety clothing, and his bike was in perfect condition. However, the cold temperatures overnight meant that he was unable to reach his destination that day.
But we'll let Martin Aregger, ICT technician in the Infrastructure & Business Solutions division, tell us his own personal story:
Markus Künzi is Martin's line manager. From day one, he was certain that Martin would successfully fight his way back into everyday working life.
"Martin always kept himself up to date during his absence and was present at all team meetings. Martin loves his work, and I was sure that he would do everything in his power to return to our team as soon as possible!"
During the long process of reintegration, Martin was very well supported by his direct colleagues and Human Resources. A big thank you also goes to Swisscom's Case Management team. They worked passionately to mediate between cablex, Martin and SUVA.
Reto Fuhrer is also an ICT technician and has been working with Martin for many years. He liaised regularly with Martin during his absence and continued his work in the Oftringen area.
We were very shocked when we heard about Martin's accident. In consultation with the team leader, I kept in touch with Martin during his absence and supported him. I was able to witness the slow but steady progress of his recovery. I'm very happy that Martin is now 100 per cent back in action.

Last November, cablex was honoured by SUVA at the annual "we miss you" prevention event for its remarkable commitment to successful professional reintegration. We received support totalling 20,000 Swiss francs. Nobody at cablex had expected this, and everyone was very pleased about it.
