Theoretical and Practical Course on Copper Network Basics.

Basic training for copper network construction.

Target group:

  • For all employees working in copper networks (technicians, construction workers, planners, measurement technicians, service technicians, etc.).

Course objective:

  • Basic training on splicing and installation techniques, copper network construction.

  • Theoretical fundamentals: data transmission in networks / data units in digital technology

Splicing course for copper network construction.

Target students:

  • The course advertised is aimed at participants with previous knowledge of telecommunications network construction.

Prerequisites:

  • Participants must have completed the "Splicing course for copper network construction – Basics".

Course objective:

  • Advanced course in splicing and assembly technology, copper network construction.

Contents:

  • Independent interpretation of order documentation
  • Creation of the corresponding material list – choosing the right materials
  • Duct arrangement; i.e. cable management (including FTTS pigtails) 
  • Assembly of various sleeves
  • Creation of various splice types
  • Connection of various end points
  • Checking of the completed system
  • Modification of existing sleeves (FTTS) 
  • Installing and splicing an FTTS pigtail
  • Preparing the switchover (carrying out insulation measurement according to client specifications) 
  • Performing and check the changeover

Theoretical and Practical Course on Fiber Optic Basics.

Basic training on fiber optics (LWL).

Target group:

  • For all employees working in fiber optic networks (network construction technicians for underground and overhead networks, construction managers, planners, measurement technicians, service technicians, etc.).

Course objective:

  • Participants will learn the theoretical basics of optical transmission and gain a brief practical introduction to splicing and installation techniques in fiber optic network construction, including connector handling (cleaning process) and red light control.

  • Theoretical fundamentals of data transmission in networks
  • Theoretical fundamentals of data units in digital technology
  • Theoretical fundamentals of optical transmission (fiber optic structure, fiber manufacturing, attenuation, fiber types)

Practical fiber optic network construction course.

For participants with knowledge of fibre optic cable network construction.

Target group:

  • For all employees and external parties who want to learn or deepen their knowledge of splicing and installation techniques in fiber optic cable network construction.

Prerequisites:

  • Theory and practice course LWL basics.

Course objective:

  • Course participants learn the practical basics of splicing and installation techniques Network construction LW.

Content:

  • Independent interpretation of order documents
  • Creating the corresponding material list - correct choice of material
  • Connecting “Optopatch” cable terminations (get to know OV, GKG, Optocon)
  • Working on UCN and fist joints, as well as various BEP
  • Creating connection splices
  • GF cable type T with 24 and XT with 288 fibers
  • Insert window cut (LOOP) through oval port in fist joint
  • Insert 288 FS feeder cable into sleeve using OSKG (oval gel spigot)
  • Open various Drop Mini cables, label them and insert them into the fist sleeve using round gel plugs
  • Clean the fibers and place them in the corresponding splice cassettes according to the splice report
  • Install the BEP at the customer's premises, set down the mini cable and place it in the corresponding    cassette according to the BEP report

Target students:

  • Installation personnel for in-house FTTH installations and technicians in fault service (FTTH in-house).

Prerequisites :

  • Good knowledge of German, Italian or French (reading, understanding, and speaking) at level B2.

Course objective:

Course participants learn how to carry out FTTH in-house installations in line with current Swisscom specifications and how to carry out the relevant measurements.

The participant is acquainted with:

  • the fire protection requirements and can use the corresponding installation material.
  • Swisscom’s applicable installation guidelines and can apply them accordingly.
  • the various OTOs and BEPs and how they are connected correctly.

Electrical Hazards in Telecommunications.

The instructional course "Electrical Hazards in Telecommunications" is the successor to the "FTTS Remote Power System" course.

Target students:

  • For employees involved in FTTH/FTTB projects, those working with remote power or exposed to supply voltages of active components in the network.

Prerequisites:

  • Language skills in German/French/Italian.

Course objective:

  • With the completion of construction activities in FTTS, the hazards associated with these activities have shifted. The risks now focus on troubleshooting and corrective maintenance.
  • The participant will be familiar with the electrical hazards in their area of activity and will be able to take the appropriate protective measures.

Basic First Aid Course - Responding Correctly in Emergency Situations.

Target students:

  • For all employees exposed to specific risks (e.g., electricity, gas, height, etc.) as per EKAS guidelines.

Prerequisites:

  • None

Course objective:

  • Participants will master the initial assessment of patients. They will understand the chain of survival and know how to activate it (proper emergency calling). They will apply the measures of the ABC scheme correctly, perform BLS and the recovery position accurately, and operate an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

Content:

  • Assessment and initial actions in emergency situations
  • Basic Life Support with AED (BLS AED SRC Lay Rescuers)
  • Awareness and handling of spinal injuries
  • Correct procedures for: seizures, strokes, hypoglycemia, hyperventilation

Your personal equipment.

Bring the necessary aids with you and give yourself the appropriate protection from exposure to hazards.

All course participants are responsible for their own personal equipment. In the confirmation of participation for the course booked, we provide information on material to bring with you as well as the equipment you need to bring. Personal protective equipment is required, for example, along with tools, IT infrastructure, etc. for the course.

Terms of cancellation.

Registration for a course is binding.

Registration is binding. In the case of cancellations, no-shows or drop-outs, the following terms of cancellation apply:

  • Cancellations up to 15 days before the start of the course will not incur any costs.
  • Cancellations 14 to 7 days before the start of the course will result in participants being charged 50 percent of the costs.
  • Cancellations less than 7 days before the start of the course will result in participants being charged 100 percent of the costs.
  • In the case of no-shows or drop-outs (where a course lasts for several days), participants will be charged 100 percent of the costs. 

Cancellations must be submitted in written form. A substitute can be registered in place of a participant.
