Splicing course for copper network construction – Basics.

Target students:

  • This course is aimed at new employees and people who would like to deepen their practical experience.

Course objective:

  • Basic training, splice and assembly technology, copper network construction.

Content:

  • Preparing, aligning and checking different cable types
  • Splicing with a 3M machine, manual splicing (soldering tube) and push button connectors for PE4 leads of 0.4 mm and 0.6 mm diameter
  • Copper pipe splicing (hand splicing) 
  • For overhead line fitters: Connecting cable crossovers and creating connection splices
  • Creation of various house infeeds
  • Mounting and connecting various end point elements (VS83, VS92, MX2000) 
  • Labelling
  • Swisscom order documentation, splice reports
  • Assembly, safety regulations and protective measures

Target students:

  • The course advertised is aimed at participants with previous knowledge of telecommunications network construction.

Prerequisites:

  • Participants must have completed the "Splicing course for copper network construction – Basics".

Course objective:

  • Advanced course in splicing and assembly technology, copper network construction.

Contents:

  • Independent interpretation of order documentation
  • Creation of the corresponding material list – choosing the right materials
  • Duct arrangement; i.e. cable management (including FTTS pigtails) 
  • Assembly of various sleeves
  • Creation of various splice types
  • Connection of various end points
  • Checking of the completed system
  • Modification of existing sleeves (FTTS) 
  • Installing and splicing an FTTS pigtail
  • Preparing the switchover (carrying out insulation measurement according to client specifications) 
  • Performing and check the changeover

  • Basic training for splice and assembly technology in fibre optic cable network construction.

  • Getting to know the basics of optical communications technology
  • Familiarisation with various fibre optic splice devices
  • Splicing various fibre types (multimode, single mode G652, G657)
  • Preparing different cable types

  • Overview of the various measurements for formal acceptance

Splicing course for FO network construction.

For participants with knowledge of fibre optic cable network construction.

Target students:

  • The course advertised is aimed at employees and people who have attended the basic course.

Prerequisites:

  • Participants must have completed the "Splicing course for FO network construction – basic training."

Course objective:

  • Advanced course in splicing and assembly technology for fibre optic network construction.

Content:

  • Independent interpretation of order documentation
  • Creation of the corresponding material list, choice of appropriate materials
  • Connecting the ‘Optopatch’ cable termination (familiarisation with OV, GKG, Optocon)
  • Working with UCN and FIST sleeves as well as various BEPs
  • Creating connection splices
  • GF cable type XT with 14 and 288 fibres
  • Insertion of the open cable (LOOP) through the oval port into the fist sleeve
  • Longitudinal cuts of loose tubes to separate and discard individual fibres
  • Inserting the feeder cable 288 FS using OSKG (oval gel plug) into the sleeve
  • Opening and labelling various drop mini cables and insertion into the FIST sleeve using a round gel plug
  • Cleaning fibres and storage in the appropriate splice trays according to the splice report
  • Mounting the BEP at the customer premises, disconnecting the mini cable and storage in the appropriate tray according to the BEP report

FTTH training for in-house installation and measurement technology.

Target students:

  • The course advertised is aimed at in-house installation assembly personnel and technicians in fault clearing (FTTH in-house).

Course objective:

Course participants learn how to carry out FTTH in-house installations in line with current Swisscom specifications and how to carry out the relevant measurements.

The participant is acquainted with:

  • the fire protection requirements and can use the corresponding installation material.
  • Swisscom’s applicable installation guidelines and can apply them accordingly.
  • the various OTOs and BEPs and how they are connected correctly.
  • the use of the splice devices and can carry out the splices correctly.
  • the measurement requirements for formal acceptance as well as the procedures for fault isolation

Safety courses.

FTTS Instruction course – Remote Power System.

Target students:

  • The course advertised is aimed at installers, chief installers, foremen, measurement engineers and assistant installers who are involved in the area of FTTS/FTTB or come into contact with the feed voltage of the µCan of 380VDC.

Prerequisites:

  • Course participants must have successfully completed the first aid course and have confirmation thereof. Sound knowledge of the language in which the course will be held is necessary to participate in the program and successfully pass the exam.

Course objective:

  • At the end of the course there will be a written examination. Passing the examination entitles participants to work with RPS technology and is confirmed with a certificate. The course costs will also be charged if you fail the exam.

Your personal equipment.

Bring the necessary aids with you and give yourself the appropriate protection from exposure to hazards.

All course participants are responsible for their own personal equipment. In the confirmation of participation for the course booked, we provide information on material to bring with you as well as the equipment you need to bring. Personal protective equipment is required, for example, along with tools, IT infrastructure, etc. for the course.

Terms of cancellation.

Registration for a course is binding.

Registration is binding. In the case of cancellations, no-shows or drop-outs, the following terms of cancellation apply:

  • Cancellations up to 15 days before the start of the course will not incur any costs.
  • Cancellations 14 to 7 days before the start of the course will result in participants being charged 50 percent of the costs.
  • Cancellations less than 7 days before the start of the course will result in participants being charged 100 percent of the costs.
  • In the case of no-shows or drop-outs (where a course lasts for several days), participants will be charged 100 percent of the costs. 

Cancellations must be submitted in written form. A substitute can be registered in place of a participant.
