The festival season is in full swing and perfect Wi-Fi coverage is needed at all summer events. This was also the case for the Paléo spectacle in Nyon in July this year. Our man on site was Lionel Dévaud, who installed the switches and access points.
It started in 1976 as the "First Folk Festival" with 1,800 participants. Today, the Paléo on Lake Geneva is a six-day event with 300 concerts and around 250,000 visitors. Equality and respect are still part of the festival's guiding principles today, alongside sustainable growth and respect for nature.
On behalf of and in cooperation with Swisscom, our ICT technician Lionel was responsible for ensuring that the WLAN connection was set up and available without any problems for six days and nights.
An "event kit" was installed in the data centre, which was located in the permanent premises on the site. The optical fibre connections between this data centre and various cable shafts were already in place.
From the event kit, a signal was sent via a fibre pair to the cable shaft closest to the Swisscom stand. From this shaft, an Opticon cable (fibre reel for temporary installation) was used to connect the cable shaft to the Swisscom stand via a path.
The fibre at the stand was installed and configured with two switches as well as three access points for Wi-Fi coverage. Finally, the access points were wired and attached to the Swisscom stand, and the LAN connections were connected to the stand control.
Thank you, cablex technical teams, for making the numerous events in Switzerland possible together with Swisscom.
